The city's own checklist does not specify placement beyond requiring equipment locations to be shown on submitted plans. Pacific Power (the utility) requires its placards to be placed on or immediately next to the utility meter base, on or next to the AC disconnect switch, and on the battery disconnect if one exists.

Yes — extensively. Pacific Power's own 'Engraved Placard Examples' document specifies: 3/8-inch lettering on all placards, red background with white lettering, sized to fit the meter base and AC disconnect switch; a placard on/next to the utility meter base; a placard on/next to the AC knife-blade disconnect for the solar system; and (if present) a placard on the battery disconnect. If a 'director[y]' placard is required, lettering must be at least 9mm (1/4") tall (≈25pt Arial), sized roughly 5x5 inches for readability. As of 11/1/2025 the utility also requires close-up AND distant photos of the meter/disconnect with the meter number visible, uploaded with the application.
