    A city address is usually permitted by the city, not the county — but not always, and some authorities keep building and hand electrical to someone else. Getting this wrong costs the whole submittal, because every requirement below belongs to whoever actually holds jurisdiction. Check the overlays in the same pass: an HOA, a historic district, a windstorm certification or a system-size cap can reshape the design, and all of them are cheaper to find now than after the array is laid out.

Chapter 247 itself came from HB 14 (88R, 2023).

85 not higher for two reasons. (1) CORRECTION TO THE BRIEF: the brief cites 'TX SB 1202' as limiting municipal inspection of listed equipment. 87(R) SB 1202 — the bill most searches return — is about EV charging service and utility definitions and has nothing to do with inspections; I read the enrolled text. The provision that actually matters is 89(R) SB 1202 (2025), and it is a third-party-review pre-emption, not a listed-equipment inspection ban. Anyone relying on the 87R citation is relying on the wrong bill. (2) Whether a grid-tied rooftop PV array is a 'home backup power installation' is arguable: the statutory definition ('an electric generating facility ... intended to provide electrical power to a one- or two-family dwelling ... connected at 600 volts or less') plainly covers it, but the section heading says 'backup power'. I have not found a Fort Worth document stating how the city applies it. Fort Worth is a home-rule city; Tarrant County does not permit or inspect inside city limits.

Yes, substantially. Oncor requires placards on ALL distributed generation projects, in three classes by VLLD-to-meter distance. Class 1 (VLLD within 10 ft of the meter): caution placard on the VLLD. Class 2 (VLLD more than 10 ft from the meter): additionally a directory placard posted within line of sight and viewable distance of the Oncor meter, stating where the disconnect is (e.g. 'AC DISCONNECT IS LOCATED ON WEST WALL OF THIS STRUCTURE'). Class 3 (pad-mount transformer feed or remote VLLD): caution placard plus a site map; three sets are requested — one for existing Oncor equipment, one held for future replacement of that equipment, one for the customer's main equipment; the contractor furnishes the placards and adhesive tape, and Oncor's own operations group mounts those on Oncor equipment after a site visit. For pad-mounted transformers, an additional caution placard with two pre-drilled holes is attached to the secondary cables inside the transformer. Placard proofs must be submitted for review, uploaded to the Placards section of the eTRACK Installer Portal.
