Selection of NEC compliant solar facility maps (mandatory for residential solar installs NEC 690.56, 705.10, 706.21). We provide a free design service to all customers to ensure each map's artwork is compliant with local authorities, and is ready for your final solar inspection. The 5" x 6" site map is the most commonly by solar contractors and home-owner solar installers.
Solar facility maps are a mandatory permit requirement for residential solar installations in most US jurisdictions. Maps must show the location of PV modules on the roof, the routing of DC and AC wiring, and the location of all disconnecting means. The requirement appears in NEC 690.56, 705.10, and 706.21 depending on the system type and the code cycle your AHJ is enforcing.
Planset Signs provides a free design service on all solar facility map orders. Submit your site plan or roof diagram and we'll produce compliant artwork ready for your final solar inspection — at no extra charge. The 5" x 6" format is the most widely used size across solar contractors and residential installers. Maps are printed on Rowmark UltraGrave acrylic and ship the same day once artwork is confirmed.
If your AHJ requires a specific format, dimension, or content layout, note this when ordering. We work with authorities across California and other active solar markets and can advise on local requirements.
