Write-in labels are pre-printed labels with blank fields for recording system-specific electrical values at the installation site — operating voltage, current, maximum power, or circuit identifiers. Fill them in with a permanent marker once install values are confirmed, eliminating the need to pre-order custom-printed labels with project-specific data.
Write-in labels are commonly used for DC source circuit identification (NEC 690.53), where operating current, voltage, and maximum power must be marked at the DC disconnect and combiner box. They're also used wherever AHJ-specific or project-specific values aren't known at time of ordering.

NEC Article 690 requires permanent, legible, weather-resistant labels and markings throughout every solar PV installation. Labels must identify disconnecting means, source circuits, output circuit conductors, the interactive system point of connection, and rapid-shutdown initiation points.
