NEC 2023 690.15(B) Isolating Device
An isolating device for PV equipment need not carry an interrupting rating. If it’s not rated for current interruption, it must be labeled "Do Not Disconnect Under Load" or "Not for Current Interrupting." The device doesn’t have to disconnect all conductors at once.
Acceptable types include mating connectors, finger-safe fuse holders, and tool-operated isolators, provided they’re listed for their specific application. This approach allows safe, flexible isolation of components according to code, supporting routine maintenance with minimized risk.
